Focusing on the weaving traditions of cultures around the world along with interlock-weft & plain weave techniques.
Mrs. Weise teaches art to 6th and 7th grade students at Oak Creek East Middle School in Wisconsin. The art curriculum exposes students to drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, pottery and various other mixed media materials. Students also learn about the art practices, traditions and techniques of different world cultures.

8th grade Plaster Mask Making
8th graders researched a non-western culture, specifically their mask making and art traditions. They used this information to inspire their own unique mask design, created with plaster.

CLAY!
All students are currently finishing up clay projects. Each clay art work was completed in one 40 min. art period-amazing I know! The clay pots were fired to almost 2000 degrees, then they were glazed and fired again. The products are vibrant and unique, enjoy!

*Art Club*
Art Club will start on Tuesday February 4th!
NEWS-Art Club will be split into two sessions of 6 classes each, due to a large number of student participation (55-yay!). I will email parents and send home info. with students this week, letting you know which session your student will be a part of.
Session 1:
Tuesday Feb. 4th, Feb. 11th, Feb. 25th, March 4th, March 11th and March 18th.
Session 2:
Tuesday March 25th, April 1st, April 8th, April 15th, April 29th and May 6th.
Teacher: Mrs. Weise
Dates: Tuesdays, from Feb. 4th- May 6th, 2014.
(art club will not take place over February or April break)
Time: 2:45-3:45pm in the middle school art room
Grades: 5th-8th grade
*I am looking forward to this wonderful opportunity for students to spend more time creating art!
